Water Polo Begins April with MAAC Doubleheader

Saints Faced La Salle, #24 LIU in Virginia on Saturday

LEXINGTON, VA – Siena Water Polo continued conference action by beginning three weekend matches at Clark King Pool in Lexington, Virginia on the campus of Virginia Military Institute. The Saints (4-18, 0-7) dropped identical 14-6 decisions to La Salle and #24 LIU.

La Salle 14, Siena 6

Siena got on the board via a goal from senior Lily Graham after the Explorers netted the first two goals of the game, but then allowed their opponents to net five straight goals. La Salle held a 31-14 shots advantage while netting three goals on five-meter penalties.

Graham led five different Siena scorers with a pair of tallies, while freshmen Bianca Kennerley, Parker Thomas, Samantha Varrie, and Finn Magill also scored. Senior Anna Mossakowski made 12 saves in-goal.

#24 LIU 14, Siena 6

The Saints matched an early LIU goal with freshman Audrey Lacey finding the back of the net to tie the game at one, but then saw LIU's Paola Dominguez net four straight goals to allow the sharks to pull away. LIU held a 19-16 shots advantage and also put together a five-goal run in the second half.

Magill led things for Siena offensively with a hat trick, while sophomore Cece White and senior Grace Boeve also got on the board. Junior Caroline Behr recorded three saves in-goal.

Siena's conference weekend will conclude against #17 Wagner on Sunday, April 2 at 8 AM.
