LEXINGTON, VA – Siena Water Polo continued conference action by beginning three weekend matches at Clark King Pool in Lexington, Virginia on the campus of Virginia Military Institute. The Saints (4-18, 0-7) dropped identical 14-6 decisions to La Salle and #24 LIU.
La Salle 14, Siena 6
Siena got on the board via a goal from senior
Lily Graham after the Explorers netted the first two goals of the game, but then allowed their opponents to net five straight goals. La Salle held a 31-14 shots advantage while netting three goals on five-meter penalties.
Graham led five different Siena scorers with a pair of tallies, while freshmen
Bianca Kennerley,
Parker Thomas,
Samantha Varrie, and
Finn Magill also scored. Senior
Anna Mossakowski made 12 saves in-goal.
#24 LIU 14, Siena 6
The Saints matched an early LIU goal with freshman
Audrey Lacey finding the back of the net to tie the game at one, but then saw LIU's Paola Dominguez net four straight goals to allow the sharks to pull away. LIU held a 19-16 shots advantage and also put together a five-goal run in the second half.
Magill led things for Siena offensively with a hat trick, while sophomore
Cece White and senior
Grace Boeve also got on the board. Junior
Caroline Behr recorded three saves in-goal.
Siena's conference weekend will conclude against #17 Wagner on Sunday, April 2 at 8 AM.
