Fourth Quarter Flourish; Saints Power Past UNH

Soures, Dobrzynski, Logue all secure hat tricks for Saints

LOUDONVILLE, NY – The fourth quarter belonged to Siena Women's Lacrosse when it needed it most and it meant another victory as the Saints scored the last four goals on their way to a 12-9 triumph over New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon.

Siena (4-2) endured a challenge from the visiting Wildcats, who scored five consecutive goals to take a 9-8 lead with 13:45 left to play after UNH's Liv Dunn collected a goal on a woman up advantage.

But, it was all Saints from that point forward as Jordan Bentley knotted it at nine apiece with 6:44 remaining and Mary Soures followed with the game-winner at 4:54 left to retake the Saints' lead at 10-9.  Rebecca Gilhooley found the back of the net on a feed from Grace Dobrzynski just 31 seconds later and Dobrzysnki added a goal of her own to push the lead to three.

Siena has now won three straight games overall and has defeated UNH (1-4) in both all-time meetings, outscoring the Wildcats 30-15 in the series.

Three Saints had hat tricks on the day with Kelly Logue putting all of her goals on the board in the first half while Soures and Dobrzysnki completed theirs in the final quarter.  Soures increased her goals total to 13, Logue reached double figures with 10 and Dobrzysnki now has seven goals and a team-leading 13 assists for the season.

Katie Taranto led UNH with three goals and Dunn added two scores.

Krasner (4-2) made several key stops for the Saints and finished with 11 saves on a .550 save percentage and had a team-high four groundballs. The Roseland, NJ native lowered her goals against average to an even 10.00 per game in the process and has now made double digit saves in four of six games thus far this season.

Siena outshot UNH 37-25, but the teams were virtually even for shots on goal with the Saints holding a 21-20 edge. The teams were dead even in groundballs with 12 apiece.  Siena successfully cleared 17 of 18.

Next up, Siena travels to Burlington take on Vermont (1-4) next Sunday, March 12 for a noon draw time.
