BOSTON, MA – Siena Indoor Track saw the most contentious school record in recent memory fall once again to begin weekend action at the 2023 IC4A/ECAC Indoor Track Championships at the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
Sophomore Claire Gardner once again set her own record in the women's 1,000, running a time of 2:51.66 to best her previous mark run at last month's MAAC Championships. Gardner finished the 1,000 qualifying round in tenth place, just one place outside of moving on to the final round.
Siena saw senior Matthew Laframboise advance to the final round of the 1,000 on the men's side with a seventh-place finish of 2:27.00 good for the second-fastest time in program history and just over two seconds off the school record.
The women's 4x800 relay team of freshman Chloe Poulos, freshman Mattingly O'Rourke, junior Jennifer McClintock, and sophomore Isabella Painter placed seventh to qualify for the final race, and will run alongside the men's 4x800 team on Sunday. The mark was good for the third-fastest in program history.
Senior Delia McDade Clay placed 17th in the women's mile with a time of 5:00.10, while three men's competitors also took part in the mile. Junior Killian McNamee placed 28th with a time of 4:11.90, while freshman Tyler Greene finished 43rd with a mark of 4:20.90 and sophomore Luke Tkaczyk placed 45th with a time of 4:39.04.
Junior Ben Guerin finished 20th in the 5,000 with a time of 14:45.13, while sophomore Tom Ragone took 29th with a mark of 15:05.36.
Siena will conclude the 2023 IC4A/ECAC Indoor Track Championships on Sunday, March 4 by entering competitors in the men's 1,000, both 3,000 races, both distance medley relays, and both 4x800 relays.
