BOSTON, MA – Siena Indoor Track concluded its 2022-23 season on a high note Sunday afternoon, with a school record falling for the second time in as many days at the 2023 IC4A/ECAC Indoor Track Championships at the BU Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
The women's 4x800 record went down to the tune of nearly an 11 second improvement over the previous mark from junior Jennifer McClintock, sophomore Keira Flaherty, junior Isabella Painter, and sophomore Claire Gardner. The team ran a time of 9:06.96 to finish fifth and best the previous record set last May at the ECAC Outdoor Track Championships.
Senior Matthew Laframboise – who qualified for the men's 1,000 finals in yesterday's preliminary race – finished sixth with a best time of 2:26.14 to improve on the second-fastest time in the event in program history.
The men's 3,000 featured a 25th place finish from junior Ryan Shanahan (8:24.73), while sophomore Jackson Cayward placed 36th (8:41.00). Senior Elaine Atanasova took 23rd in the women's 3,000 (10:02.07), while classmate Sophia Vinciguerra took 25th (10:10.25), and sophomore Julia Caputo finished 27th (10:17.74).
The women's distance medley relay team of freshman Chloe Poulos, Gardner, freshman Mattingly O'Rourke, and senior Delia McDade Clay finished fifth with a time of 11:48.29, while the men's group of junior Killian McNamee, senior Ryan Famiglietti, junior Griffin Cooke, and sophomore Luke Tkaczyk finished ninth with a time of 10:05.00. The men also featured freshman Tyler Greene, sophomore Chris Bertola, Laframboise, and sophomore Noah Greski finish ninth in the 4x800 relay with a mark of 7:46.16.
The women finished the meet 30th with eight points, while the men placed 33rd with seven points.
With two of three seasons on the year now behind them, Siena will gear up for the 2023 outdoor track campaign, which begins March 23-24 at the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina.
