OLD BROOKVILLE, NY – Siena Men's Golf concludes its 2022-23 regular season in record-breaking fashion Tuesday, while tying for the top spot to end the Shark Invitational at the Brookville Country Club in Old Brookville, New York.
After entering the day tied for first in the nine-team field with Fairleigh Dickinson, both the Saints and the Knights shot a final round score of +11, 291 to end the 54-hole event with a total of +12, 852. Fairleigh Dickinson took home the team title on the first hole of a sudden death playoff following the conclusion of the third round.
The three-round score set a program record for low 54-hole team score for Siena by seven strokes. The Saints will now enter the 2023 MAAC Championship this weekend having gone under 300 as a team in each of their last eight rounds.
The Green and Gold saw two golfers finish inside the individual top-ten, with senior
Matthew Ferrari (69-71-70-210) coming a stroke off the top spot to finish in second. Freshman
Austin Giroux (75-65-73-211) landed in a three-way tie for third.
Sophomore
Dan Brooks (71-71-75-271) tied for 11
th individually, while senior
Nolan Crowley (74-72-73-219) came in 14
th. Graduate student
Brody Yates (69-75-79-223) rounded out the five-man competition team in a tie for 21
st.
Competing as an individual, senior
Jack Tobin (71-74-71) led all individual participants in a tie for ninth place.
Entering the Spring 2023 campaign as the MAAC Preseason Favorites, Siena will now head to Florida for its shot at a MAAC title for the first time since 2016 at the 2023 MAAC Championships this weekend.
