Iona rallied from a 4-1 deficit and walked off on an error with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to take the series from Siena Baseball with a 6-5 victory at City Park in New Rochelle, New York.
Siena (8-31, 2-9) took advantage of a costly error in the third, scoring four times with three of the runs being unearned.
Vincenzo Castronovo capped the inning with an RBI single to give the Saints a 4-1 lead.
Iona (9-26, 5-6) knotted the scoring at four apiece on a three-run homer by Josiah Ragsdale in the fourth. The Gaels ultimately made it four unanswered runs with a Luca Lotito RBI double in the fifth to take a 5-4 advantage.
Siena battled back and evened the score at five-all in the eighth on a sacrifice fly from
Aiden Stewart. But a pair of errors by the Saints in the ninth allowed the winning run to first advance to third and then come home as the Gaels walked off.
Freshman
Danny Barbero registered a pair of hits to lead Siena offensively, while classmate
Ryan Bates struck out seven over 7.1 innings in a no-decision.
The Saints will look to salvage the series Sunday at noon.
