Nolan Tichy homered in each of the first two innings to help stake UMass to a quick 7-0 lead in a 10-5 defeat of Siena Baseball in midweek action in Amherst.
 
Tichy finished the afternoon with three hits and knocked in six runs total for UMass (8-25, 1-11), which tallied 10 hits while also working 10 walks and stealing seven bases.
 
Siena (9-33, 3-9) was held hitless while trailing 8-0 through the first 4.2 innings before the bats came to life in the second half of the contest. The 8-9 hitters Nick Bergamotto and Chris Erickson each registered two-runs homers to highlight two-hit performances.
 
Alistair Morin, Tyler Tilton, and Noah Rodriguez combined to finish things out with four shutout innings out of the pen.
 
After playing six of their last seven away from home, Siena returns to Connors Park to host Manhattan in a pivotal MAAC series this weekend. The action is scheduled to get underway Friday at 3 p.m.
