LOUDONVILLE, NY – Manhattan exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning to capture the rubber game and take the series from Siena Baseball 11-1 in seven innings at Connors Park.
Manhattan (15-27, 8-7) tallied eight hits and worked 12 walks against six Siena (10-35, 4-11) pitchers in the mercy-rule shortened affair.
The Jaspers capitalized on an error and an obstruction play to score three unearned runs and claim a 3-1 lead in the fourth. Manhattan then sent 13 batters to the plate during the decisive sixth, registering five hits and working four walks off four different Saints relievers.
Siena scratched across its only run during its best threat in the first. The Saints loaded the bases with nobody out to start, and
Danny Barbero drove home
Aiden Stewart with the lone tally on a fielder's choice. Barbero and Stewart led the Saints offensively with a pair of hits apiece.
Siena heads back out on the road for the next two conference weekends, returning to action at Saint Peter's Friday at 3 p.m. to open a three-game series in Jersey City, New Jersey.
