VILLANOVA, PA – Siena Water Polo began an abbreviated conference weekend with an 18-8 road loss to MAAC rival Villanova at the Villanova Swim Complex in Villanova, Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon.
The Saints kept it close in the first half, with freshmen
Samantha Varrie and
Parker Thomas netting early goals to result in a 3-2 Wildcat lead after a quarter of play. Senior
Grace Boeve dominated the center of the pool with four goals in the second quarter to keep the Saints within a goal – down 7-6 – at the half.
The home team responded by netting all three goals in the third quarter and an overwhelming ten of 12 goals in the final period of play to pull away. Boeve added both second half goals for the Saints to finish with six on the day, while senior goalkeeper
Anna Mossakowski made eight saves in-goal.
Siena will conclude weekend action against conference foe VMI on Saturday, April 8 at 10:45 AM.
