Jayson Kramer opened the scoring with a three-run homer in the third for Mount St. Mary's (23-24, 9-11), which added four back-breaking two-out insurance runs in the sixth. The Mount tacked on another run in the seventh, which would ultimately prove to be the difference.
With their backs against the wall trailing 8-2 heading into the eighth, Siena (13-37, 7-13) wouldn't quit. Reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week
Danny Barbero stayed hot with a two-run homer, while fellow freshman

Barbero then delivered a one-out double to put the tying runs in scoring position in the ninth, and pinch-hitter
Kobe Stenson moved Barbero to third while chasing home
Aiden Stewart from third on a sacrifice fly. But Barbero, who represented the tying run, was ultimately stranded just 90 feet away as the comeback fell just short.
Barbero paced Siena offensively with his second straight three-hit game, while classmate
Gavin Thorburn also added three hits.
Vincent DiNicola contributed a pair of hits, including his team-leading ninth home run of the season.
The Saints will look to bounce back and capture their second straight series victory Saturday, with the rubber game set for 3 p.m.
