LOUDONVILLE, NY – After spending three seasons in Green and Gold, Siena Basketball alumnus Jackson will begin his professional career in Portugal. The Santa Barbara, California native has signed with the Imortal Basket Club for the 2023-24 season.
"Thank you so much to the entire Siena community for embracing me as family the past three years," said Stormo. "Loudonville will always be a second home, but I am very excited for the next journey to Portugal and wherever the game takes me."Â
Stormo came to Siena prior to the 2020-21 season from Pepperdine University and made an immediate impact at the post position for the Saints. He earned Second Team All-MAAC honors following the 2022-23 campaign, in which he was a one-time MAAC Player of the Week and ranked inside the league's top-ten in blocks, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and offensive rebounding during the regular season.
"We are excited for Jackson to continue his basketball journey," said head coach
Carmen Maciariello. "When we recruited him to come to Siena, the plan was to help him reach his goal of pursuing basketball after college. He is one step closer to the goal, and like with all of our players, we take pride in helping him live out his dreams."
Averaging 30.1 minutes per-contest and starting in all but one game this past season, Stormo led the Saints in blocks (36) and offensive rebounds (62), while ranking second in scoring (12.5) and field goal percentage (50.9). Named the MAAC Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Jan. 9, he averaged a team-high 17.0 points while shooting 64% from the field during the team's season-best seven-game win streak from December 19 to January 13.
During three seasons in the Capital Region, Stormo appeared in 76 total contests with 68 starts, averaging 11.6 points per-game – including double-figures in all three seasons – and 5.9 rebounds per-contest. He served both as a team captain and as a member of the team's Leadership Council during his career, and was selected to the NABC Honors Court in all three seasons while receiving his Bachelor's in Sports Communications from Siena in 2022.
Stormo becomes the sixth former Siena player to sign a professional contract during the four-year tenure of Coach Maciariello.
