Siena Women’s Basketball Announces 2023-24 Schedule

Saints Set for 13 Home Games in Quest for MAAC title

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Following a nine-win improvement from his return to Loudonville to his second season of his second stint at the helm of Siena Women's Basketball, head coach Jim Jabir has etched the concept of "expect to win" into the values of the program. The Saints will look to follow up an appearance in last year's MAAC Semifinals when they take the court for their 28-game 2023-24 campaign.

The announcement of Siena's 2023-24 schedule comes in conjunction with the announcement of the 2023-24 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women's basketball schedule by MAAC officials Tuesday morning. Siena will take the court at the UHY Center 13 times this coming season, including three times in non-league action and against all ten MAAC opponents.

"We are very excited about this year's schedule, and we think it's our most challenging one yet," Jabir said. "I think it reflects how we feel about our team and what we expect moving forward."

Boasting nine returning letterwinners from last season, the Saints will commence the program's milestone 50th varsity season of play with two road contests against familiar opponents, including at Binghamton on Nov. 9 and at Dartmouth on Nov. 12. Siena defeated both teams at home last season, and will visit Dartmouth for the first time since 2003. Siena will wrap up the month of November by taking the court at the UHY Center twice to host Penn on Nov. 19 and Merrimack on Nov. 28, facing off against the Quakers for the first time since 2019 and against the Warriors for the first time in program history.

Siena will begin the month of December by heading across town on Saturday, December 2 to try and regain control of the Albany Cup against crosstown rival UAlbany, with the team last claiming the trophy in 2019. The Saints will welcome A-10 foe Fordham to the UHY Center on Dec. 7 for the first meeting between the pair since 2010, and will look to continue a seven-game win streak against the Rams. A challenging road trip to ACC opponent Boston College awaits on Dec. 10 before Siena begins its 35th MAAC campaign against Canisius at the UHY Center on Saturday, Dec. 16. The Saints will conclude the 2023 calendar year at MAAC foe Mount St. Mary's on Dec. 18 before heading west to take on AAC foe Cincinnati for the first time ever on Dec. 21.

The Green and Gold will enter 2024 with a road matchup at Manhattan on Jan 4. before returning back to the Capital Region for home contests against Saint Peter's on Jan. 6 and Niagara on Jan 11. Following a trip to Fairfield on Jan 13, the team will round out a stretch of four out of five games at home from Jan 6-20 by hosting Rider on Jan. 18 and defending MAAC champion Iona on Jan. 20. The month of January will end with a trip to Quinnipiac on Jan. 27.

After opening February at home against Manhattan on Feb 1. Siena will dive into a stretch of five of nine contests on the road during the second month of the year, heading down I-87 to Marist on Feb. 3 and to Iona on Feb. 8. After hosting Quinnipiac on Feb. 10, the Saints will make their annual pilgrimage to Buffalo to face Niagara and Canisius on Feb. 15 and Feb. 17, respectively. Three of the team's final five regular season matchups will take place at the UHY Center, beginning with Fairfield on Feb. 22. After traveling to Saint Peter's on Feb. 24, Siena will conclude regular season home play against Marist on Feb. 29 and against Mount St. Mary's on March 2. The 2023-24 regular season will end with a road matchup at Rider on Thursday, March 7.

The 2024 MAAC Men's & Women's Basketball Championships will mark the fifth straight year that the event will take place at Jim Whalen Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Opening Round action will begin on March 12, while Quarterfinals will take place on March 13 & 14, Semifinals on March 15, and the 2024 MAAC Championship Game on March 16. Siena advanced to the MAAC Semifinals last year for the first time since the 20117-18 season, coming within a point of knocking off top seed and eventual MAAC champion Iona.

All Siena home contests will be broadcast live on the ESPN Family of Networks, while all contests during the 2023-24 season will air live on Siena's campus radio station, 88.3 The Saint.
