Vermont scored twice just seven minutes apart early in the second half to rally past Siena Women's Soccer 2-1 in the non-conference finale in Burlington, Vermont.
Vermont (6-3-0, 0-1-0) out-shot Siena (1-6-2, 0-1-1) 13-3 in the first half, but the Saints found themselves on top at the break thanks to their dynamic freshman striker duo.
Julia Dening won a long footrace to the ball in the deep right corner, deked her defender, and found classmate
Megan Stowell alone on the doorstep to give Siena a 1-0 lead in the 14
th minute. Stowell (seven points) and Dening (five) stand atop the Saints scoring chart midway through the season.
But the Catamounts finally broke through in the second half. Kate Bossert turned over Siena in deep and knotted the score in the 48
th minute, and then was part of the connection that found Jill Brody for the go-ahead tally in the 55
th minute.
Overall, Vermont out-shot the Saints 17-6 and held a 7-3 margin in corners.
Brooke Boermeester made six of her seven saves during a busy first half in goal for Siena.
The Saints continue their season-long three-match road trip – and return to conference action for good – when they travel to Saint Peter's for a noon kickoff Saturday.
