LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Athletics officially opened the Siena Athletics Fueling Station inside the Marcelle Athletic Complex this week. The fueling station represents an evolution from the original Siena Fueling Station that launched back in February 2022.
The evolved fueling station now sits in its own independent space in the Marcelle Athletic Complex on Siena's campus thanks to the generous support of lead donors Frank '85 and Sheila Ambrose, as well as other supporters who made this important project to further the mission of "Building Better Saints" possible.
The station – which is supervised by Strength and Conditioning coach Ernest Ruch and Women's Soccer Assistant Coach Lauren Mackay – will provide Siena's NCAA Division I student athlete population with additional sources of fuel beyond regular meals, with each athlete given the option of selecting either a pre or post-workout option once per-day, Monday through Friday.
Siena once again partnered with BARE Blends to continue to be the premier provider of plant-based proteins for the fueling station. Additionally, Fairlife signed on as the official milk product of the fueling station, while Pepsi continues to be the official hydration partner by supplying Gatorade, Propel, and water.
The partnership was once again arranged through Van Wagner, Siena's multimedia rights holder, and Siena's Van Wagner General Manager Lynne Young.
"The expansion of the fueling station is something that we had hoped for when first implementing the idea last year," Young said. "BARE Blends helped us to start the concept on a smaller scale and now will continue to be a major contributor to the plant based nutrition offered daily to our Student Athletes. Expanding the station now allows for more partners to get involved directly and the space gave us the opportunity to partner with Fairlife as the official milk-based provider of the station. We can offer more products and more variety to help each individual athletes' dietary needs as well as maximize their recovery and performance while training at Siena."
