ALBANY, NY – Freshman Jeremiah Quigley scored 19 points on 8-12 shooting to lead defending MAAC Champion Iona past Siena Basketball 70-51 at MVP Arena.

Greg Gordon posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds for Iona (9-10, 4-4) which dished out 20 assists to just five turnovers while turning over Siena (3-16, 2-6) 20 times. The Gaels entered play ranked 12
th nationally in turnover margin (+4.5) and 25
th in turnovers forced (15.4), while also leading the MAAC in fewest turnovers committed (10.9).

Zek Tekin scored 17 points for the shorthanded Saints who were without their two leading scorers in
Sean Durugordon (23.0 points per game) and
Michael Eley (14.1) due to injury.
Bralyn Smith chipped in nine points, while
Giovanni Emejuru added seven points and eight rebounds.

Iona opened up 19-6 just over eight minutes in and built their lead to as many as 25 in taking a 41-16 advantage at the break. The Gaels dished out 12 assists without turning the ball over, while conversely forcing 15 first half turnovers leading to a 16-0 advantage in points off turnovers in the stanza.

Iona increased its lead to as many as 30 in the second half as the programs have now split the past 12 meetings.
