LOUDONVILLE, NY - Four players reached double-digit points to pace the Siena Women's Basketball offense in the team's 80-48 exhibition victory over the visiting American International Yellow Jackets from the UHY center on Friday evening.
Eszter Turi handled business on both ends of the floor, notching a team-high 16 points (6-7 FG, 1-1 3PT, 3-4 FT) with seven rebounds, and three blocks.
Ahniysha Jackson dropped 14 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the floor, while
Anajah Brown (12), and freshman
Aniya Hooker (11) also scored in double figures.
Brown led the team with four blocks to go with six boards, while newcomer
Zyriah Price brought in 10 rebounds.
Christina Ruzgar Boyle accounted for nearly half the Yellow Jackets' points, netting a game-high 21 on 7-for-22 shooting from the field. Teammate Rhaymi Ports led the field with 14 rebounds.
The Saints dominated the paint (48-22) and capitalized with a 13-point margin in points off turnovers (15-2).
Aside from a brief 3-2 AIC edge that lasted just under one minute in the first quarter, Siena held a lead for the final 52:39 of play. Siena went on to end the first quarter with a 23-15 lead, holding the Yellow Jackets to 27.8 percent shooting from the floor while hitting 50 percent of its own shots. The team would take a 41-27 advantage into the break.
The second half began with a 12-0 Saints run that lasted until 3:46 to play in the third quarter. Jackson, Seppala, and
Zoe Richardson all drained three-pointers during the stretch to fuel the run. Siena only surrendered six points in the quarter.
AIC battled throughout the fourth, tying a team-best for quarter points at 15. However, the Saints shot an efficient 46.7 percent from the floor over the final 10 minutes to round out the exhibition.
