Siena Basketball Returns Home to Host American Tuesday

Saints in Search of First 3-0 Start in Four Years

ALBANY, NY – Fresh off exhilarating back-to-back overtime wins to tip off the Gerry McNamara Era, Siena Basketball returns to the Capital Region for its final home game in 35 days when the Saints host American Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at MVP Arena.

Tickets to see Siena in action at home for the final time until Dec. 17 start at just $17 on gameday (service fees apply if purchasing through Ticketmaster) and can be secured by clicking the corresponding link, in-person at the MVP Arena Box Office, or by contacting Ticketmaster by phone at (800) 745-3000. The Siena Fan Relations Management Center is on-hand to handle all ticket-related inquiries, and can be reached by phone at (518) 487-2202 or by e-mail at sienatickets2@siena.edu. Rejuvenated Siena (2-0) returns home in search of the program's first 3-0 start to a season in four years and first 3-0 non-conference start in 21 years dating back to the 2003-04 season. The first leader to start his Siena head coaching career 2-0 in 42 years since John Griffin began 3-0 back in 1982-83, McNamara has piloted the Saints to consecutive overtime victories against Brown and Bryant to begin his tenure. Siena has been led on the court by newcomer and Division II transfer Justice Shoats, who was named the first MAAC Player of the Week of the season on Monday after coming off the bench to average 27.0 points, 3.0 steals, and 3.0 assists in the two victories.

American (1-1) arrives in the Capital Region following a quick turnaround after a 67-55 victory over Harvard Sunday afternoon in Washington, DC in a game played in front of former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Tonight marks a stretch where the Eagles will play each of their next six games away from the nation's capital. American welcomes back seven of its top-nine scorers from last year's team which finished 16-16 overall and tied for second in the Patriot League, highlighted by the return of Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year Matt Rogers.

Siena and American meet for the fourth time in six seasons to wrap up a double home-and-home series. The current four-year series – which began back in 2019 – was delayed for two seasons between the first and second matchups due to COVID. The Saints won the first two installments of the current series, before the Eagles responded with a 78-58 victory last Nov. 13 at Bender Arena. Overall, the programs meet for the 10th time in a series which Siena leads, 6-3.

Robert Lee and former Saint Conner Fenlon '12 have the call of the game on ESPN+, which can be viewed by clicking the corresponding link. Kelly O'Donnell and former Saint Andy Grazulis '92 will have the radio call of the game locally in the Capital Region on JAMZ 96.3 FM, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Social media updates will be provided courtside throughout the day by following the Saints' official X (formerly Twitter) page @SienaMBB. Join the conversation by using the hashtag #MarchOn. Upload pictures of yourself and your friends enjoying the game through the Selfiefinder platform by clicking the corresponding link at the top of the page, or by downloading the Selfiefinder app and searching "Siena."
