Siena Closes Out Non-Conference Slate, 2024 Monday at Cornell

Saints Look to Head Into New Year on High Note

ITHACA, NY – Siena Basketball wraps up both its non-conference schedule as well as the 2024 calendar year when the Saints take on Ivy League foe Cornell in a holiday week Monday matinee at 4 p.m. at Newman Arena.

Johnny Gadamowitz and Eric Taylor have the call of the game on ESPN+, which can be viewed by clicking the corresponding link. Tim Leonard and former Saint Conner Fenlon '12 will have the radio call of the game locally in the Capital Region on JAMZ 96.3 FM, with pregame coverage beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Siena (5-7, 1-1) returns to action following a 10-day holiday break seeking to bounce back from consecutive home losses to St. Bonaventure and Holy Cross right before Christmas. Factoring in a nine-day break due to final exams preceding those two contests, the Saints are set to play for just the third time in 21 days and first time away from home since Dec. 8.

A 22-win, NIT team a season ago, Cornell (7-4) defeated ACC foe California on the road earlier this month, and thwarted MAAC member Iona 84-68 on Nov. 25 in New Rochelle. Led by first-year head coach Jon Jaques, the Big Red rank second nationally in assists (19.8), 21st in made threes (10.6), and average 83.9 points, good for 38th in the country.

The programs meet for the second straight season to complete the home-and-home series. Overall, Siena and Cornell have split the first eight all-time meetings, following a 95-74 victory by the Big Red last Dec. 19 in Albany.
