Siena Swim and Dive opened up the ECAC Winter Championships from East Meadow, NY on Friday with a bang - setting seven program top-10 performances, 18 season best times, and 10 personal bests en route to securing 425 points to sit second entering Saturday.
Currently, the Saints trail only first place Monmouth by 12 points in the 10 team field.
Hope Ivanovich (4th, 2:09.89) and
Mea Amedio (6th, 2:10.22) logged top-10 performances in the 200 IM,
Shaylea Triller (5th, 24.11),
Mya Reed (7th, 24.27),
Kylie Carter (T-8th, 24.41), and
Kaci Owens (10th, 24,48) in the 50 free, and
GayLynn Kirn (9th, 5:10.10) in the 500 free.
Triller's 24.11 was good enough for a fourth place finish in the finals, while teammate Reed placed 10th with her mark of 24.27. Amedio clocked 2:12.36 in the 200 IM finals to place eighth, while Ivanovich's 2:09.89 solidified her with a 10th place showing.
On the boards,
Claire Donlon turned in a fourth place showing in the 1m (195.40), with
Sydney Murray coming in sixth (188.60).
The team had a pair of top-10 finishes in the 200 free relay. Reed, Owens, Carter and Triller took third in 1:36.28, while
Gabrielle Rentosa,
Camryn Raines,
Natalie Blume and Amedio finished seventh in 1:37.25. Siena's top 400 medley relay squad of
Leslie Dame, Rentosa, Ivanovich and Triller came in sixth out of 18, clocking 3:58.04.
Day two of the ECAC Winter Championships commences with prelims at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
