LOUDONVILLE, NY –
Jordan Bentley got the offense revved up with a pair of player-up goals.
Grace Dobrzynski and
Taryn Asselin accelerated it more to gain some serious separation.
And,
Kelly Logue and the rest of Siena Women's Lacrosse hit a cruising speed on their way to a 16-9 home victory against Colgate on bright, sunshine-filled Tuesday afternoon at Hickey Field.
In doing so, Siena (4-3) moved over the .500 mark for the first time this year and notched a season-high 16 goals. Along the way, several players hit new high marks including Dobrzynski, who tied a career-best on two other occasions with seven points (three goals, four assists).
Logue netted a season-high four goals while Bentley had a breakthrough performance for 2024 with her first hat trick and a four-point output.
On the draw, the Saints got a big lift from
Taryn Asselin, who led with a team-high eight draw controls to go with two goals and a pair of assists on the day.
Sabrina Krasner was steady between the cage once again, making eight saves and allowed just two goals in the first half as the Saints captured a 7-2 advantage at the break.
The defense was stingy at times as well with eight caused turnovers including three by
Laura Bonomo and two by
Meghan Decker, who also scored twice.
Siena took a heavy advantage in the draw controls department in the first half, gaining a 9-3 edge. The Raiders (0-7) were able to make big adjustments to win that battle 12-4 in the second half and played Siena to a 4-4 tie in the third quarter.
It got as close as 11-6 late in the third quarter, however Siena struck back with four consecutive goals with two from Logue on player-up advantages, and one each from
Rebecca Gilhooley and
Kylie Kuhn to push the lead back up to nine.
Siena will travel to Washington, D.C. to finish out its non-conference part of the schedule with a first-time meeting with American (4-3) of the Patriot League on Saturday.
The Eagles will get a taste of MAAC competition ahead of that game as they will play at Iona on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Opening draw for Siena and American is scheduled for 12 p.m.
