LOUDONVILLE, NY – Time ran out on Siena Men's Lacrosse as the Saints dropped a hard luck defeat to visiting Dartmouth of the Ivy League 12-11 on a rain-soaked Saturday at Hickey Field.
Brandon Ventarola scored the winning goal unassisted with 3:28 remaining to lift the Big Green just 49 seconds after Saints junior attack
Pratt Reynolds had just tied the game at 11 all on an assist from
Ryan McCarthy.
The Saints (2-3) had their game plan working as well as it could have hoped early on when they staked themselves out to a 5-0 lead, helped orchestrated in large part by

Olmstead secured his fourth hat trick of the season while Reynolds netted his 17
th career hat trick and fourth in five games this season.
But, Siena allowed Dartmouth to climb back into it, as the Big Green would score six of the next seven goals to tie it at 6-6 on a goal by Nate Davis with 14:52 left in the third quarter.
The Saints briefly re-captured the lead at 7-6 on
Patrick Radomski's second goal of the day, but Dartmouth answered back with five of the next six goals to take an 11-8 advantage.
Siena rallied back with three consecutive goals on man-up goal by
Travis Fry, an unassisted goal from
Jack Cavaioli and Reynolds' strike from McCarthy locked it at 11 apiece.
Siena was outshot 41-33 and 26-20 for shots on goal, but senior goalkeeper
Andrew Arcuri helped keep it close by tying a career-best with 14 saves.
The Saints had a couple of late opportunities, but missed on a shot wide and committed two turnovers in the final couple minutes of play.
Colin McGill and Cameron Brown each scored three times for the Big Green (2-2).
Siena returns to action next Saturday, March 9 with a visit to Sacred Heart (2-4) for the conference opener at 12 p.m.
