The Marist Women's Lacrosse team got on the board first, but that only seemed to awake the offense that is the Siena scoring machine as
Kelly Logue,
Elizabeth Wamp,
Taryn Asselin and
Jordan Bentley helped orchestrate a six straight goal bombardment on their way to a 13-7 road win on Wednesday afternoon at Tenney Stadium on Leonidoff Field.
Siena (10-4, 5-1 MAAC) stayed hot by winning for the eighth time in the last nine games and extended its double-digit wins in a season mark to five consecutive seasons when a season had been completed in its entirety. (The 2020 season was unfinished due to the pandemic).
The Saints are now 55-29 (.655) over this span of time.
Gabby Kingston scored at the 12:39 mark of the first quarter for the Red Foxes (3-10, 2-4 MAAC), but its lead was short lived as Logue tied at the 10:50 mark and was followed by six more goals in just under six minutes of play by the Saints.
Kerry Gutenberger scored back-to-back goals and Olivia Arnsten scored to get Marist within four goals of the lead at the 10:23 mark in the third quarter.
But that's as close as they would get as Siena responded with four of the game's next five goals on marks by Logue,
Meghan Decker,
Grace Dobrzynski and
Rebecca Gilhooley.
Gilhooley's goal came off a feed from Dobrzynski, who tied Virginia's Morgan Schwab nationally among all NCAA Women's Lacrosse Division I student-athletes with that assist at the 11:38 mark in the fourth quarter.
With Iona's defeat to Niagara on Wednesday, Siena moved up to second place in the MAAC standings. The Saints only trail #23 Fairfield (11-1, 5-0) in the conference.
Between the pipes, graduate student
Sabrina Krasner made nine saves and earned her 23
rd career win to bring her into a tie for second all-time in career wins.
Her 356 career saves moved her into fifth all-time in program history in career saves.
Logue finished with three goals and an assist for her fifth hat trick this season while Bentley earned her second hat trick of the season.
Taryn Asselin earned one draw control to move her into fourth all-time for the most draw controls in a single-season in program history and gave her 156 career draw controls to move into a tie for fourth all-time in career draw controls.
Siena extended its head-to-head winning streak versus Marist to six straight wins dating back to 2019.
Siena hosts Mount St. Mary's (4-8, 2-3 MAAC) this Saturday at 12 p.m.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
A Senior Day tribute will honor the Saints' eight seniors prior to the game starting at 11 a.m.
