LOUDONVILLE, NY – Massachusetts scored in each of its final six innings at bat to defeat Siena Baseball 15-4 in seven innings in midweek action at Connors Park.
UMass (14-23) erupted for 15 runs on 16 hits over just seven innings, with five different players registering multi-hit efforts highlighted by a trio of three-hit performances. The top-two hitters in the order – Austin Burgess and Matt Travisano – combined to set the tone, with both batters each registering three hits, three runs scored, and a pair of RBI apiece.
Trailing 1-0 after an inning, the Minutemen put the game away with a seven-run second and a three-run third. The second inning saw UMass sent 12 men to the plate in a frame in which they registered six hits.
Tyler Figueroa had both a pair of hits and RBI to pace Siena (8-29) offensively.
The Saints continue their five-game week when they open a three-game weekend set at MAAC rival Fairfield Friday at 3 p.m.
