LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena Baseball smashed four home runs to power past Marist 8-3 in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Connors Park.
Siena (10-38, 6-15) – which had recorded just two home runs total in its previous 15 games – received home runs from four different players, while registering 13 hits which was one off a season-high.
The Saints took control with a 4-0 lead through five.
Willie Schwarick, who was one of four Siena seniors to walk across the stage at commencement earlier in the day, opened the scoring with a home run in the second.
Danny Barbero added a sacrifice fly in the third, before doubling the advantage with a two-run single in the fifth.
After Marist (17-32, 10-14) scratched across an unearned run to get on the board in the sixth, the Saints put the game away with two runs apiece in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively. Barbero and
Noah Brooks delivered back-to-back homers in the seventh, while reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week
Tyler Figueroa capped the Siena scoring with a two-run shot in the eighth.
The power surge was more than enough support for
Noah Rodriguez. The closer-turned-starter – whose previous career high was 5.1 innings pitched – twirled 8.1 impressive innings on just 99 pitches to earn the win.
Barbero paced the Saints offensively with his four RBI, while Figueroa added three hits and
Nick Bergamotto scored three times.
Siena concludes its season-long nine-game homestand – and 2024 Connors Park slate – when they host Fairleigh Dickinson in non-conference action Tuesday at 3 p.m.
