LOUDONVILLE, NY – College basketball icons will gather in the Capital Region for a special evening next month. "From Syracuse to Siena: A Night With Jim Boeheim and
Gerry McNamara, Featuring Special Guest John Cahill" is set for Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 6-8 p.m. at The Crowne Plaza Albany – The Desmond Hotel, located at 660 Albany Shaker Road in Albany.
Moderated by ESPN personality Doug Sherman, panelists include legendary Syracuse Head Coach and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim, Siena Men's Basketball Head Coach and 2003 National Champion Syracuse legend
Gerry McNamara, legendary NCAA Referee and Albany resident John Cahill '74 who officiated 11 Final Fours, and Siena College Vice President and Director of Athletics and 2023-24 NACDA Athletics Director of the Year John D'Argenio.

ABOUT THE PANELISTS
A Naismith Hall of Fame and 2003 National Champion head coach, Boeheim guided Syracuse to 35 NCAA Tournament appearances, five Final Fours, and five Big East Tournament titles during his 47-year tenure. In 2010, Boeheim was named the Naismith College Coach of the Year,
Associated Press Coach of the Year, National Association of Basketball Coaches Coach of the Year, and
The Sporting News Coach of the Year.
Appointed the 19
th head coach in Siena Men's Basketball history on Mar. 29, McNamara starred for Boeheim's Syracuse squad which captured the 2003 National Championship. The Orange's all-time career record holder for made threes (400), free throw percentage (.888), and minutes played (4,799), McNamara had his No. 3 jersey retired by Syracuse on Mar. 4, 2023. McNamara later spent 15 seasons on staff at Syracuse, where he was elevated to associate head coach this past season.
Cahill spent 40 years as an NCAA referee highlighted by officiating 11 Final Fours. The Albany native now serves as the supervisor of officials for the Big East Conference and Senior Partner at Messina & Cahill, in nearby Slingerlands.
Siena College's Vice President and Director of Athletics, D'Argenio was honored as a 2023-24 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Director of the Year. He has overseen Siena's athletic excellence for over 30 years, and remains the second longest tenured athletic director in Division I at the same institution.
