LOUDONVILLE, NY – Bailey Ayer recorded a hat trick and Kate Bossert added a pair of goals to power Vermont past Siena Women's Soccer 5-0 at Hickey Field.
Ayer set the tone early for Vermont (2-1-3), scoring just 61 seconds into the match. She added tallies in the 30
th and 60
th minutes, and assisted on the final score as part of a seven-point afternoon.
The Catamounts leading goal scorer last season with 10, Bossert registered her first two goals of 2024 in the 22
nd and 67
th minutes.
Despite the result, Siena (2-4) out-shot Vermont 18-15 and registered an 8-1 advantage in corners. The Saints set a season-high in shot attempts, with 11 different players making an attempt.
Sydney Slusser made six saves to post the clean sheet in her season debut for Vermont, while a pair of additional Siena attempts were cleared off the back line by defenders.
The Saints will look to quickly turn the page as they continue their season-long four-match homestand when they host Iona in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener Saturday at 1 p.m. on Hickey Field.
