LOUDONVILLE, NY - Members of both of Siena's basketball teams continued a long-standing tradition of engaging with schoolchildren in the local community Monday morning.
Â
Student athletes and coaches from the Siena Men's and Women's Basketball squads participated in school visits with several Capital Region-area schools Monday, as part of Siena Athletics' "Transfinder Adopt-A-School" program and its continued involvement in the local community.
Â
The Saints set out around the Capital Region to make visits with elementary and middle school-aged children at Oneida Middle School in Schenectady, Southgate Elementary School in Loudonville, Voorheesville Elementary School in Voorheesville, and Blue Creek Elementary in Latham.Â
Â
Monday's visits coincided with Siena Women's Basketball's annual Kids Day game, which was played on Thursday, January 9. Schoolchildren from these four schools - along with eight other schools - attended the 13th annual Kids Day game for what was the program's first sell-out since 2019.Â
Â
Players and coaches from both teams introduced themselves and answered questions from students and teachers that covered a variety of topics, including the life of a student-athlete, balancing academics and athletics, their favorite activities, and more. Students also participated in basketball drills and activities led by Siena players.
