Saints Return Home to Host New MAAC Member Sacred Heart Thursday

Siena Set to Square Off With Pioneers For First Time in 50 Years

ALBANY, NY – Siena Basketball returns to the Capital Region to host new MAAC member Sacred Heart Thursday night at 7 p.m. at MVP Arena. The new league foes are set to square off for the first time in 50 years, and first time at the Division I level.

Tickets to the first matchup between Siena and Sacred Heart in five decades start at just $17 on gameday (service fees apply if purchasing through Ticketmaster) and can be secured by clicking the corresponding link, in-person at the MVP Arena Box Office, or by contacting Ticketmaster by phone at (800) 745-3000. The Siena Fan Relations Management Center is on-hand to handle all ticket-related inquiries, and can be reached by phone at (518) 487-2202 or by e-mail at sienatickets2@siena.edu. For all Siena Basketball ticket-related information, log onto sienasaints.com/tickets.

Tonight marks the Saints annual Food Drive game benefiting the Regional Food Bank. Fans who bring five or more canned goods to donate at the game will receive a voucher good for five dollars off a ticket to a future home game this season. Cash donations will also be accepted.

Siena (7-9, 2-3) is looking to bounce back from consecutive losses and get back to .500 in what has been a wide-open middle of the MAAC so far. The Saints enter play one of four teams – along with Sacred Heart (6-10, 2-3) – tied for fifth in the MAAC Standings. Just one game separates fifth place from 13th and last place at this juncture.

The Pioneers too are seeking to erase the memory of back-to-back excruciating losses last weekend against two of the league's current top teams. Sacred Heart missed a potential game-winner at the buzzer in a one-point loss vs. league frontrunner Merrimack last Friday, and lost at the horn at Mount St. Mary's Sunday.

Siena and Sacred Heart meet for the first time as MAAC members in the first matchup between the programs since the Ford Administration. The schools previously met for eight consecutive seasons from 1968-75, with the Pioneers holding a 5-3 advantage. Siena took the last meeting in a barnburner, 115-108 on Feb. 1, 1975 in Connecticut.

Robert Lee and Kelly O'Donnell have the call of the game locally in the Capital Region on My4 Albany as well as on ESPN+, which can be viewed by clicking the corresponding link. The final 10 Siena Basketball home games will be simulcast locally on Capital Region television on My4Albany. The "Voice of the Saints" Emmanuel Berbari and former Saint Andy Grazulis '92 will have the radio call of the game locally in the Capital Region on JAMZ 96.3 FM, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Social media updates will be provided courtside throughout the day by following the Saints' official X (formerly Twitter) page @SienaMBB. Join the conversation by using the hashtag #MarchOn. Upload pictures of yourself and your friends enjoying the game through the Selfiefinder platform by clicking the corresponding link at the top of the page, or by downloading the Selfiefinder app and searching "Siena." The best selfies from the game will be displayed on the video scoreboard during the second half.
