Saints Set to Face Another New MAAC Member Saturday

Siena Travels to Merrimack For First Meeting Between Programs in 43 Years

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – For the second time in three days, Siena Basketball faces another new MAAC member when the Saints travel to take on Merrimack Saturday at 3 p.m. at Hammel Court.

John Avino and Jacob Van Ryn have the call of the game on ESPN+, which can be viewed by clicking the corresponding link. The "Voice of the Saints" Emmanuel Berbari and former Saint Conner Fenlon '12 will have the radio call of the game locally in the Capital Region on JAMZ 96.3 FM, with pregame coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Siena (8-9, 3-3) is in search of the program's milestone 1,200th all-time win, after getting back to .500 in conference action thanks to an impressive second half performance in a 93-75 victory over Sacred Heart Thursday night. The Saints erupted for a season-high 54 second points while outscoring the Pioneers by 25 in the stanza. Siena's offense has kicked it into another gear of late, averaging 79.2 points spanning the past six games. The Saints had averaged 66.0 points over the first 11 games of the season.

Meanwhile Merrimack (8-9, 5-1) is looking to bounce back from its first setback as a MAAC member. The Warriors joined the league on the heels of back-to-back Northeast Conference Regular Season Championships while transitioning to the Division I level. Merrimack is led by three-time MAAC Player of the Week Adam Clark who paces the league in both scoring (19.8) and assists (5.7) while ranking second in steals (2.0).

New MAAC foes Siena and Merrimack are set to meet for the first time in 43 years. The programs played 11 times in a 14-year span from 1962-76, before the most recent matchup in the 1982-83 season-opener. The Saints lead the all-time series, 7-5.
