The Siena Indoor Track & Field season got underway on Friday at Utica University in the Utica Winter Opener with mixed results as two women and two men each won individual events at the Todd and Jen Hutton Sports and Recreation Center.
The Saints tended to thrive in the mid to longer range events.
Junior
Mattingly O'Rourke won the women's 1,000-meter in 3:07.45. Sophomore
Julianna Tourangeau was third in 3:16.28.
The Saints finished 1-2-3 in the women's 3,000-meter as senior
Claire Gardner finished in 9:58.29, fellow senior
Keira Flaherty clocked in at 9:59.08 and sophomore
Chloe Poulos was third in 10:34.88.
Senior
Julia Caputo placed third in the women's mile at 5:02.08 behind the RPI pair of Jules Bleskoski (4:59.16) and Erin vonHousen (4:59.30)
On the men's side, senior
Luke Tkaczyk set a new personal best when he won the 1,000-meter in 2:29.03 as it was an All-Saints finish for the 1-2-3 spots. Junior Tyler Green was second in 2:30.12 while junior
PJ Dauer clocked in at 2:33.64.
The men did well in the 5,000-meter as well as senior
Collin Clinton (15:04.65), senior
Christopher DeForest (15:07.44) and junior
Brody Santagata (15:17.13) finished second, third and fourth in concession.
Freshman
Ralston Frattarola also won the 500-meter in 1:07.82 for a debut victory for his first track and field meet while fellow freshman Paris Porter finished out at 1:08.77 to place third.
Siena will be back in competition on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University beginning at 10:30 a.m. The events can be watched on FloTrack at the Track & Tennis Center.
