The bottom half of the Siena Men's Tennis singles lineup came through with victories to provide a temporary lead, but the Saints dropped a tough 4-3 decision to LIU in the 2025 home opener at Tri-City Fitness in Latham on Saturday. 
 
Freshman Bruno Varella stayed hot, picking up another win from the No. 5 spot, earning another straight sets, 6-3, 6-1 triumph over senior Ales D'Anna.
 
Senior Maxwell Acri won from the No. 4 position, topping senior Danila Ishchanka 7-5, 6-2 for his eighth singles win of the season. 
 
Another freshman Emilio Zavala Salinas gave the Saints a boost, picking up a 6-3, 6-1 win.
 
The Saints will next travel to play at NJIT this Saturday, February 1 at 10 a.m.
