Siena Swimming and Diving made a strong showing at the meet against Canisius and the University of Rochester, with standout performances by many including
Gabrielle Rentosa and freshman
Clara Samko highlighting the day. Siena earned a victory over its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponent in Canisius, 155-143, while Rochester came away with a 153.50-146.50 win.
Siena's performance in the meet against Canisius was highlighted by several strong individual and relay finishes. Rentosa secured a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 59.93, contributing significantly to the team's overall performance. Samko also delivered an impressive victory in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Her winning time of 24.04 in the 50 free not only secured her first place but also marked a top ten performance time, ranking fifth on the list. She later took home another win in the 100 fly, topping the competition in 59.39.
The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay saw Siena's 'A' team of Samko, Rentosa,
Julia Filiault, and
Mea Amedio clinch first place with a time of 1:38.98. In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, Siena's 'A' team, featuring Rentosa, Samko, Amedio, and
Kayla Lombardo achieved a second-place finish with a time of 1:48.89.
GayLynn Kirn took third in the 200 free in 1:57.76 and was just ahead of Amedio, who placed fourth in 2:00.22. Amedio later finished second in the 100 free in 54.10.
Carsyn Ide also enjoyed a third-place showing in the 100 back (1:01.49).
In the distance events,
Natalie Blume stood out with a second-place finish in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 10:09.82.
Skylar Ricard also took fourth in the event, clocking in at 11:26.07.
Claire Donlon's performance in diving was notable as she placed second in both the 1-meter (222.15) and 3-meter (217.20) events, adding valuable points to the team's tally.
Julia Mihok was pivotal in the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, capturing third in the 100 (1:09.19) and second with a time of 1:09.19 in the 200.
The next challenge for Siena takes place on November 1 as they host Merrimack and New Hampshire at the Siena Swim Center, with competition beginning at 11 a.m.
