Comeback Attempt Falls Short Against Dartmouth

Siena outscored 18-13 in final frame

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — Despite a 41-30 rebounding advantage, the Saints were unable to overcome Dartmouth's 24 points from the free-throw line as Siena fell to Dartmouth 65-55 at the UHY Center on Sunday afternoon.

Siena is now 0-4 overall. Dartmouth holds a 3-1 overall record.

Francesca Schiro scored 22 points and recorded five rebounds while contributing three assists.

Jamariah Turner added 10 points and Caydence Hadley posted six points and secured six rebounds, including three on the offensive glass.

Kaiya Rain Tucker finished with nine rebounds and added four points.

After trailing by 15 at halftime, Siena came roaring back in the third quarter by outscoring the Big Green 21-11 while shooting 9 of 16 from the floor. 

But the Saints could not get closer than a six-point deficit the rest of the way. 

Cate McDonald led the Big Green with a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. 

First Quarter 
- Dartmouth started strong with an early 3-pointer by Zeynep Ozel. 
- The Saints responded with a 6–0 run, highlighted by a layup from Genevive Wedemeyer
- Midway through the quarter, Turner added a 3-pointer, pushing the hosts ahead 11–7. 
- By the end of the quarter, Dartmouth led 18–11 after a series of free throws and a late layup by Debra Hill. 

Second Quarter
- Dartmouth began with accurate 3-point shooting, hitting 4 of 7 attempts in the quarter.
- Siena's Nicole Melious connected on a 3-pointer, reducing the deficit early in the period.
- Dartmouth's Cate MacDonald added to the lead with a 3-pointer at the 5:00 mark.
- At halftime, the visitors led 36–21.

Third Quarter
- Schiro sparked a run with a layup and a 3-pointer early in the period.
- The Saints controlled the paint, scoring 14 points inside, with Schiro adding another layup plus a free throw.
- Turner brought the team within one point with a crucial 3-pointer at 2:51.
- Dartmouth responded with five points in the final two minutes to maintain their lead, finishing the quarter ahead 47–42.

Fourth Quarter
- Dartmouth took command early with back-to-back layups, extending their lead.
- Siena responded with Zyriah Price's three-point play, narrowing the gap.
- Alexandra Eldredge hit a crucial 3-pointer at 4:09 to push Dartmouth's advantage further.
- At the final buzzer, Dartmouth secured the victory with a 65–55 scoreline.

The next challenge for the Saints will be the Capital Cup at UAlbany (2-2) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. from the Broadview Center.
