ALBANY, NY – Siena Basketball seeks to reclaim the Albany Cup when the Saints host local rival UAlbany in the annual crosstown showdown Friday night at 7 p.m. at MVP Arena.

Crosstown rivals Siena (2-2) and UAlbany (2-3) are set to meet in the 21^st official Albany Cup – including the fourth straight season – since the rivalry was renewed following the Great Danes elevation to the Division I level at the start of the century. The Saints hold an 11-9 advantage, although UAlbany has won seven of the last nine Albany Cup matchups including two straight. Overall, Siena holds a 31-26 edge in an all-time series which dates back to 1940.
 
The Saints enter this season's edition of the crosstown showdown looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats following a 2-0 start. Siena suffered a heartbreaking loss on a halfcourt heave at the buzzer in a 72-69 setback vs. Colgate on Monday night. The Saints now begin a busy stretch where they play five times in just a 10-day span to close out November.
 
The Great Danes arrive at MVP Arena having posted a pair of lopsided victories over non-Division I opponents, while having lost their three DI matchups by an average of 22.3 points. UAlbany was predicted to finish tied for second according to the America East Preseason Poll, while Amir Lindsey was tabbed a Preseason All-Conference selection.
