Saints Face First Road Test Friday Night

Siena Takes on Ivy League Foe Brown in Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI – Siena Basketball faces its first road test of the season when the Saints take on Ivy League foe Brown Friday at 7 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.

Scott Cordischi, Russ Tyler, and Nick Coit have the call of the game on ESPN+, which can be viewed by clicking the corresponding link. The "Voice of the Saints" Emmanuel Berbari and former Saint Conner Fenlon '12 will have the radio call of the game locally in the Capital Region on JAMZ 96.3 FM, with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Siena (1-0) seeks its second straight 2-0 start following an impressive 82-66 victory over Bryant on Opening Night Monday at MVP Arena. The Saints led throughout and by as many as 21 points to emerge victorious in their season opener for the sixth time in seven years. Siena however is just 33-51 (.393) all-time in road openers, and dropped nine of 12.

Meanwhile Brown makes its season debut. The Bears were predicted to finish sixth out of eight teams according to the Ivy League Preseason Poll, after posting a 14-13 overall record including a 6-8 league mark last season. Brown returns 11 players from last year's squad.

Siena and Brown meet for just the fourth time ever, albeit the third straight season. The matchups each of the past two seasons have been decided by a combined five points. The Saints overcame a five-point deficit in last year's season-opener to prevail 72-71 in overtime at MVP Arena. Justice Shoats led all players with 23 points and four steals in his Siena debut, while Brendan Coyle hit three free throws with two seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime.
