Saints Battle College Basketball Blue Blood Indiana Monday

Siena Makes First-Ever Trip to Historic Assembly Hall

BLOOMINGTON, IN – Siena Basketball wraps up the calendar year with arguably its biggest test of 2025. The Saints complete non-conference play when they battle college basketball blue blood Indiana Monday night at 6 p.m. at historic Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Kevin Kugler and Jordan Taylor have the call of the game on Big Ten Network. The "Voice of the Saints" Emmanuel Berbari and former Saint Conner Fenlon '12 will have the radio call of the game locally in the Capital Region on JAMZ 96.3 FM, with pregame coverage beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Siena (9-3, 2-0) looks to put a bow on 2025 with a statement performance, and bounce-back effort after their seven-game win streak was snapped last Wednesday at Vermont. The Saints enter their non-conference finale with a chance to secure the program's most non-conference victories (would be eight with a win) in 27 years, since finishing a perfect 9-0 during the 1998-99 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship season.

But the task will be tall against five-time National Champion Indiana (9-3, 1-1), which has defeated five of its first six mid-major opponents by 20 or more points and by an average of 28.3 points. The Hoosiers, who received a peak ranking of 22nd in the Dec. 1 AP Top-25 Poll, are receiving four votes this week, tied for the 37th highest total nationally.

Siena and Indiana are set to meet for the first time ever, as the Saints play just their seventh game all-time in the Hoosier State. Siena is 2-8 all-time against programs hailing from Indiana, and has dropped all six previous contests in the Hoosier State. The Saints last played in Indiana on Nov. 24, 2013, an 81-73 setback at Purdue.

Siena is in search of its first high-major (Power 4 + BIG EAST) win in three years, and first true high-major road win in 28 years. The Saints most recently defeated Florida State (ACC) and Seton Hall (BIG EAST) in the span of four days at the ESPN Events Invitational during Thanksgiving Weekend Nov. 24-27, 2022. However, Siena has dropped 26 straight true road games against current Power 4/BIG EAST programs, last winning 86-84 on Nov. 22, 1997 at Northwestern.
