Siena Swim & Dive competed in its final tune-up before the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships Saturday afternoon with a dual meet at MAAC foe Saint Peter's, topping the Peacocks 158-66. Due to a timing issue, results were not made final until Monday morning.
Siena started strong with a 1-2 finish in the 200 medley relay. The team of
Carsyn Ide,
Leslie Dame,
Camryn Raines, and
Mea Amedio (1:52.41) narrowly beat the team of
Gabrielle Rentosa,
Olivia Martin,
Hope Ivanovich, and
Shaylea Triller (1:53.15) by .34 seconds. In the last relay of the day, the Saints ended with a strong 1-2 finish in the 200 free as the team of Triller, Rentosa,
Natalie Blume, and
Kylie Carter timed 1:39.49, and the team of
Maddie Buck,
Mea Amedio,
Alice Scalmani, and
Mya Reed placed second swimming 1:43.19.
Siena continued to excel in individual events, with Buck winning the 200 free (1:59.96) and Triller taking the 100 freestyle (54.41). Rentosa also contributed two victories in the 50 back (28.28) while teammates
Leana Padunina (28.87) and
Brooke Pociask (30.28) finished second and third.
In the 100 fly, Blume (1:02.18) finished second and Buck (1:04.03) finished third. Martin (32.56) notched a first-place finish in the 50 breast while teammate Carter (32.88) finished second.
Amedio (24.83) took first in the 50 free while Triller was just behind her with a time of 25.15 to place second. In the next race, Triller finished first in the 100 free timing 54.41, whereas Blume and Carter finished second and third timing 54.65 and 55.19. Amedio also placed first in the 100 breast 1:00.99, with Ivanovich taking second in 1:05.57. Ide (1:03.45) was victorious in the 100 IM where teammate Raines (1:05.00) placed third.
Among being victorious in 10 out of the 12 events on the day,
Mya Reed (5:41.20) and
Alice Scalmani (5:43.76) finished second and third respectively in the 500 free. Reed also finished third in the 50 butterfly timing 28.91.
The MAAC Championships will be held from Feb. 12-15 at Spire Institute in Geneva, OH.
