Emilio Zavala Salinas picked up a singles victory, but Siena Men's Tennis dropped its home non conference match to the University of Buffalo 6-1 on Thursday at Tri-City Fitness in Latham.
The Merida Yucatan, Mexico native earned a victory from the No. 6 singles position with a straight sets 6-2, 6-4 victory against Yu-Shiang Huang.
Sophomores
Oscar Martinez and
Dylan Breen earn a win from the No. 2 doubles position over the Bulls team of Faiz Nasyam and Daniils Saniders 6-4.
But Buffalo was able to pull out a pair of close wins from the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to take the doubles point.
In singles competition, Breen gave Siena its only point of the match with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph over Emiliano Jorquera at No. 5.
Martinez drew even in his match up from the No. 1 singles spot against Theodoros Mitsakos, but ultimately fell in a hard luck in a third-set tie-breaker 1-0 (6).
The Saints dropped the other four matches in straight sets.
The Bulls, who play in the Mid-American Conference, improved to 2-3 on the season.
The Saints (0-4) will host Binghamton (3-3) next Friday, February 14 at 6:15 p.m. from Tri-City Fitness in Latham.
