Siena Baseball posted its highest scoring output of the season to secure its first mercy rule win this spring with a 13-1 triumph in seven innings over Fairleigh Dickinson in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Eight of nine batters recorded hits, eight scored, and six registered RBI as part of a complete offensive performance. Siena (5-17, 2-4), which had entered play averaging just 3.7 runs and had totaled only 11 over their previous four games combined, cracked double digits in scoring for the third time this season.
Jeremy Sangalang set the table atop the order, registering a game-high three hits to go along with both a pair of runs scored and RBI to lead the Saints offensively.
Richie Paltridge bookended the lineup with a pair of hits and RBI apiece out of the nine-hole, while
Edwin Sanchez drove in a game-high three runs.
Aidan Paradine added a multi-hit and multi-RBI performance.
The Saints jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first two innings, setting the tone with a four-run first punctuated by a two-run double from Paradine. Siena put it away with a six-run seventh, highlighted by a pair of two-run doubles from both Sangalang and Sanchez.
Meanwhile, six hurlers combined to scatter four hits and one unearned run for the Saints.
Hunter Ray accounted for two of the four singles mustered by FDU (4-21, 4-5) which has now dropped all 16 of its non-conference contests to date.
Siena returns to the Capital Region to finally make its Connors Park debut this weekend, after its defacto home-opening series vs. Manhattan earlier this month was moved off site. The Saints host defending Northeast Conference Champion and MAAC newcomer Sacred Heart for a three-game conference set beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
