Siena Baseball dropped its 2025 Northeast debut and first midweek tilt of the season with a 6-3 setback Tuesday afternoon at Yale.
Yale (4-3) scored all six of their runs over the first two innings to take a commanding early lead. The Bulldogs capitalized on a pair of first inning errors, as three of their four runs in the opening frame were unearned. They added a pair in the second.
Siena (1-9) settled down both defensively and on the mound thereafter. Four relievers combined to allow just three hits and a pair of walks over six scoreless innings to wrap things up. Both
Sebastian Bentz and Lawson McIntosh each hurled a pair of scoreless innings apiece.
Meanwhile, the Saints scored all three of their runs in the seventh on an RBI single from
Gavin Thorburn, and a two-out, two-run double by
Jake Sparks. Thorburn and Sparks paced the offense with a pair of hits each.
Siena tried to rally again in the ninth, ultimately bringing the tying run to the plate, but couldn't get any closer.
The Saints are slated to make their 2025 Capital Region debut when they host Manhattan in both their home and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener Friday at 1 p.m.
