LOUDONVILLE, NY – Gavin Doty has finished with more Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors during the 2024-25 season than any other league freshman. The Fulton, New York phenom wrapped a fantastic regular season by earning MAAC Rookie of the Week acclaim for a league-high fifth time.
 
A prime contender to be named the 2024-25 MAAC Rookie of the Year Monday, Doty secured MAAC Rookie of the Week honors for the fourth time in the final six weeks of regular season action. His five MAAC Rookie of the Week awards finish two more than his nearest challenger, Will Sydnor of Manhattan.  
 
Doty wrapped up regular season action by averaging a double-double with 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds over a pair of games this week. On Thursday, he narrowly missed a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds – and connected on three clutch free throws in the final 13 seconds – to help Siena secure a MAAC Tournament berth with a four-point win over Fairfield. Doty finished the regular season by recording his sixth double-double in MAAC action, as the guard posted game-highs of 21 points and 12 rebounds, the latter of which was a season-high, at Manhattan.
 
Through the conclusion of regular season play, Doty ranks eighth overall in the MAAC in free throw percentage (.805) and just outside the top-10 in field goal percentage (.484 – 11^th). The freshman has appeared in all 31 games (16 starts), and is averaging 11.2 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds.
 
In conference action, Doty leads all MAAC freshmen in scoring (14.1), rebounding (7.9), field goal percentage (.480), and free throw percentage (.815).
 
Doty and the Saints begin the program's quest for a seventh Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship when ninth-seeded Siena faces No. 8 Rider in MAAC First Round action Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
