Game Recap: Women's Water Polo |

Saints Drop a Pair at Marist

Late Comeback Against the Mount Falls Short

Siena Water Polo traveled to Poughkeepsie, New York Saturday afternoon for a pair of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) matches against (RV) Marist, and Mount St. Mary's. The Saints fell to the top team in the MAAC Blue Division in the Marist Red Foxes 10-5 before coming up shy against the Mount 13-12.

(RV) Marist 10, Siena 5

Parker Thomas was Siena's lone multi-goal scorer of the game, and notched her first of the morning with 3:20 left in the first to erase a 2-0 hole. The match stood as a 2-1 score in favor of Marist entering the second. There, the Red Foxes jumped ahead 4-1 before the likes of Rebecca Currie, Thomas, and Catherine Williamson scored three in a row to even the score with just over one minute left in the half.

However, Marist notched two quickly before the end of the second to take a 6-4 lead into the break, and went on to out-score the Saints 2-0 in a fast third to have an 8-4 edge after three. Lucia Fernandez Caballero scored the team's lone second half goal in the fourth in the 10-5 loss.

The Mount 13, Siena 12

Much like the first game of the day, Siena fell behind 2-0 before notching its first goal of the afternoon courtesy of Catherine Williamson. The Mount wound up with a 3-1 lead after one thanks to a goal with 14 seconds left in the frame.

Quincy Frommelt scored seven seconds into the second period, while the Mount responded two minutes later to reclaim a two-goal advantage. The sides traded one goal each by halftime as the Saints trailed 5-3 midway through.

The Mount maintained a three-goal lead for the majority of the third period, and grew its edge to four goals with under three minutes to play in the game. However, the Saints came storming back. Trailing 12-8 with 1:33 to play, Parker Thomas and Williamson combined for three goals in a one minute span to close the deficit to one. However, the Mount scored with six seconds to go while Frommelt scored with one second remaining in the one-goal loss.

The Saints close out their 2025 season Sunday with a 10 a.m. match at Iona, and a 1:30 p.m. contest against (RV) Marist in New Rochelle, NY.
