Six MAAC series, six series-opening wins. Siena Baseball remained perfect in conference lid-lifters with an 11-6 victory over Saint Peter's in Game One of the weekend in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Siena (12-22, 8-8) raced out to an 8-1 lead in the fourth inning – scoring multiple runs in three of the first four frames – on the way to securing their 16
th win in their last 18 meetings with Saint Peter's (8-24, 4-11). The Saints have now eclipsed double digits in scoring in 11 of those 16 victories.
Noah Brooks led the way with three hits including the lone long ball of the afternoon for Siena, which led by as many as nine runs in the eighth.
Jake Sparks knocked in three more runs for the Saints, who had four players register multi-hit performances.
Alistair Morin went seven strong with five strikeouts to earn his staff-leading fourth victory for Siena, which has already matched its team win total from all of last year with still a month to play in regular season action.
The Saints will now also look to lock up their third straight MAAC series victory when play continues Friday at 1 p.m.
