Siena Men's Tennis will be heading to the 2025 MAAC Tennis Tournament with a bit more momentum after picking up a 4-3 road conference victory at Marist on Friday afternoon at the Tennis Pavilion in Poughkeepsie.
Siena (6-12 overall, 5-3 MAAC) won the doubles point to get the match off the racquets of
Emilio Zavala Salinas and
Oscar Martinez as well as the team of
Maxwell Acri and
Bruno Loch Varella.
Zavala Salinas and Martinez dispatched of Nick Suhanitski and Augustin Damonte 6-1 while Acri and Loch Varella topped the team of Fateh Singh and Ian Layton 6-2.
In singles competition, it was much closer however Siena was able to pick up victories from Martinez at the No. 1 spot,
Bruno Loch Varella at the No. 4 spot and Fabio Varella earned the clinching point at No. 2 to cinch it for the Saints.
Martinez earned his team-leading 23
rd singles victory of the 2024-2025 season and his 24
th individual doubles win.
The Red Foxes dropped to 5-14 overall and 1-7 in the MAAC.
The top six teams qualify for the MAAC Tennis Championships at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, NJ. The first round begins Friday, April 25 with 10 a.m. start times.
