Massachusetts matched a four-run Siena fifth with a decisive four-run sixth to defeat the Saints 8-6 in midweek action in Amherst.
 
Siena (16-26) forged ahead 6-3 in the fifth inning off a seesaw affair with a four-run frame, highlighted by a leadoff home run from Aidan Paradine and a bases-clearing, three run double off the bat of Nick Bergamotto. Paradine pounded out three more hits on the afternoon to raise hit average to a scintillating .392 for the season, while Bergamotto and Jake Sparks contributed a pair of hits apiece.
 
But UMass (13-26-1) batted around in the sixth, registering five of their 11 hits in the frame. Reece McCarthy, who finished with four hits and four RBI, knotted the score at six, and scored the decisive run on an RBI hit from Carter Hanson.
 
Following a winning nine-game road trip, the Saints finally return to the friendly confines of Connors Park when they open a three-game weekend series vs. MAAC rival Canisius beginning Friday at 3 p.m.
