Saints Tie Single-Season Program Win Record, Complete Sweep of Saint Peter’s

Saints Secure #4 Seed in Upcoming MAAC Tournament

Siena Softball drew even with last season's record-setting team after recording its 33rd victory of the year Friday afternoon following an 11-0 victory over the Saint Peter's Peacocks in the team's regular season finale in Jersey City, NJ.

Based on results around the league, Siena will be the #4 seed in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament, which will be hosted by Marist University from May 6-10 at Softball Park. The Saints will receive a bye to the double elimination portion of the tournament starting May 7.

Pitching in relief Friday afternoon, Alissa Eimont tossed two clean innings to finish the game, surrendering just one hit while striking out three. In doing so, the redshirt-junior reached a major milestone - becoming just the seventh Saint to eclipse 300 career strikeouts.

Emma Petersen's bat carried into Friday as the junior belted a two-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Saints ahead 2-0. That was followed by a Gianna DiMeglio RBI double which scored Ella Milante, handing pitcher Gracie Goewey a 3-0 lead before taking the circle.

The Saints jumped on the board again in the top of the fourth when Megan Klein singled home Ashlee Sweet with two outs, extending the team's lead to 4-0. Sweet came through herself in the top of the sixth, belting her first collegiate home run - a two-run blast - to push Siena's lead to 6-0.

Leading 7-0 in the final inning, Siena added four insurance runs - with the big hit coming from a two-RBI single off the bat of McKenzie Swinson - to make it a comfortable 11-0 score before relief pitcher Eimont finished off the afternoon in the bottom half.

Klein and DiMeglio each had three-hit games, while Klein, Petersen, Swinson and Sweet had two RBI each. Goewey secured her 9th win of the season after going five innings with no runs allowed over four hits. She also fanned four batters with just one walk allowed.
