Two members of Siena Women's Track Team fit in one last competition before the MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships next weekend.
Claire Gardner continued to rewrite the history books when doing so as the senior finished the 800-meter in record time of 2:10.56 for an 11th overall finish at the Larry Ellison Invitational at Princeton University on Friday.Â
Her teammate
Keira Flaherty wasn't far behind and she closed in 2:11.50 for a 13th place spot in the same event.Â
Flaherty's time was the second fastest outdoor time in program history. Â
This comes off heels of Gardner winning the women's 400-meter with a school-record time of 57.74 at the Capital District Classic just one week earlier. Â
"They both had phenomenal days," said Siena Track head coach
Elizabeth DeBole.Â
"The goal was to get into a good situation and really commit the second half. Both did that and can go into the MAAC Championship believing they can run with anyone in the conference. Claire running the fastest time in program history is really special. And to have her roommate, friend and fellow captain alongside her running the second-best in program history is pretty cool." Â
Siena will be back in competition at the 2025 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11 from Rider University. Â
