LOUDONVILLE, NY – Siena University has announced the creation of the Athletes & Champions Revenue Sharing Fund, a new initiative designed to provide direct support to Siena student athletes while keeping the University competitive in the rapidly evolving landscape of collegiate athletics.
"Our new Athletes & Champions Revenue Sharing Fund underscores Siena's commitment to doing right by our student athletes," said Vice President and Director of Athletics
John D'Argenio. "The creation of this initiative is about retention, stability, and ensuring that Siena remains competitive while staying true to our mission."
The Athletes & Champions Revenue Sharing Fund, established through the generosity of alumni and friends of Siena, will be supported by a combination of private and corporate contributions, reallocation of institutional and conference support, and designated athletic revenue streams, including a percentage of basketball season ticket sales.
The fund will compensate student athletes for the University's use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL) in ways that promote Siena, its athletic programs, and related initiatives. By establishing this fund, Siena seeks to strengthen retention and program stability, support the University's mission while ensuring compliance with NCAA policies, and provide student athletes with meaningful, institutional NIL-based compensation.
The Athletes & Champions Revenue Sharing Fund was celebrated Monday at the First Annual St. Bernardino Cup – Tee Off For Siena Basketball at the adjacent Schuyler Meadows Club, an event made possible through the passion and leadership of Brian Foust '05 and Frank Ambrose '85. The St. Bernardino Cup featured a wonderful day of golf and camaraderie, celebrating the rich tradition of Siena Basketball and bringing together program alumni, loyal supporters, and friends of the program. The event served as the official tip-off to the Athletes & Champions Revenue Sharing Fund, raising $95,000 in support of Siena student athletes, and laying a strong foundation for the initiative's long-term success.
