RIVERDALE, NY – The lid came off from three-point range for
Brendan Coyle and Siena Basketball Saturday afternoon at Draddy Gymnasium. Coyle matched a career-high with seven of the Saints season-high 13 threes in a 74-59 triumph at Manhattan.

Coyle posted his first collegiate double-double with a season-high tying 23 points and a career-best 10 rebounds for Siena (12-7, 5-3) which improved to a perfect 7-0 in day games.

Coyle finished just two threes shy of the program single-game mark for the Saints which shot 54.2% from downtown as a team, the highest percentage in nearly four years (57.1% vs. Quinnipiac on Jan. 30, 2022). Siena had entered play ranked 10
th worst nationally in three-point percentage (.284) and 11
th worst in threes per game (5.2).

Reserves Terrance Jones (17 points) and Quron Elliott (15) led the way for Manhattan (8-12, 4-5) which shot just 37% including only 25% (7-28) from three to fall for the fourth time in their past five games.

The Saints scored the first seven points and led throughout in a hot start. Siena embarked upon a 10-2 run down the stretch to open as much as a 19-point first half lead. The Saints shot a scintillating 61% from the field including 8-12 from three in the opening stanza to take a commanding 42-25 lead at the break.

Siena maintained a double-digit lead through the second half and ultimately led by as many as 20 to win their third straight road game for the first time in three years.

Justice Shoats scored 16 points and was one of three separate players with five assists for the Saints which dished out 22 total, recording the program's highest mark in six years since totaling 23 on Mar. 4, 2020 vs. Niagara.

Gavin Doty added 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists, and freshman reserve
Christian Jones matched a season-high with 12 points for Siena which shot 53% overall and was +9 (37-28) on the glass. Â

Having alternated wins and losses through its first six games of the New Year, the Saints will look to build momentum Monday. Siena continues their grueling six-game, 14-day stretch when they return home to host Fairfield for a MLK Day holiday matinee at 2 p.m. at MVP Arena.
