Siena (12-7, 5-3) returns home to take aim at a major milestone while also looking to keep its unblemished afternoon record intact. Now in the program's 37
th season of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action, the Saints need just one more win to secure a milestone 400
th all-time overall MAAC victory (regular season and tournament combined). Meanwhile, Siena is a perfect 7-0 in afternoon games, while allowing an average of only 57.7 points.
Â
Monday's matchup pits one of the nation's top scoring defenses against the conference's most prolific offense. The Saints rank 19
th nationally in scoring defense (65.1), and are 12-1 when holding the opposition under 70 points. Meanwhile, Fairfield (11-8, 3-5) paces the MAAC in scoring offense (77.6). The Stags also lead the conference in both rebounding (39.8) and fewest turnovers committed (9.6).
Â
Monday also features three of the top freshmen – and arguably top trio of first-years big men – going head-to-head for the first time in the Saints
Francis Folefac and the Stags frontcourt duo of Brandon Benjamin and Declan Wucherpfennig. The trio has combined to claim eight of the first 11 MAAC Rookie of the Week awards, with Folefac and Wucherpfennig sharing the honor for the most recent week. Wucherpfennig is the son of former Siena Basketball players Craig '98 and Bronwyn (Tobin) '00, who was a 2000 Second Team All-MAAC and MAAC All-Tournament Team selection.
Â
Siena and Fairfield meet for the 84
